Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Individuals who volunteer to participate in research projects are generously offering to help advance medical knowledge through research. To safeguard their rights and welfare, Phoenix Children's Hospital has adopted policies and practices, based on federal regulatory requirements, for the protection of participants.
All research involving human subjects is reviewed by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) a federally mandated committee established by Phoenix Children's Hospital to review and approve research involving human subjects. The IRB has the authority to approve, require modifications to, disapprove, suspend or terminate all research activities involving human subjects.
The IRB provides guidance to investigators on how to incorporate the appropriate measures needed in the proposed research to protect the subjects.
