The Advanced Pectus Excavatum Course

Phoenix Children’s Hospital / Ritz Carlton

The Advanced Pectus Excavatum Course is designed for surgeons who are currently doing the Nuss Procedure in their practice, but want to improve their results. Since its description by Dr. Nuss 15 years ago, the technique has changed markedly. Improved techniques for decreased bar rotation, elimination of intercostal stripping, and allowing safer passage of the bars under the sternum have been developed.

The course will also cover modifications for adult pectus patients, techniques for recurrent or failed prior surgery, and modifications for mixed defects.

Course Highlights:

• Advanced Pectus Workshop: Solutions for complex patient repair, revision repair for recurrent or inadequately repaired pectus, repair of the adult pectus patient including breast implants

• Live Video Presentations: CHKD and Phoenix Children’s Adolescent Nuss procedures/bar removal; Mayo Clinic Adult Nuss Procedure

• Review of Current PE Literature & Evidence Based Medicine

• Ask the Experts: Q&A Discussions

This Course is presented by the Joint Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Mayo Clinic Chest Wall Program and Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters May 27-28, 2014 (prior to 2014 APSA Meeting)
