Breastfeeding

When a woman has a baby, her breasts make milk to feed the infant. Breast milk gives babies nutrients like liquid, proteins, sugar, and fats. Breast milk helps babies fight off germs. Breast milk can also carry medications and other substances from the mother to the baby.

Topics in breastfeeding include:

  • breastfeeding an adopted baby
  • breastfeeding premature infants
  • breastfeeding twins and triplets
  • medication and breastfeeding
