What led you to your career as a neuro-psychologist?
I wanted to help children and teenagers. I was also really interested in the brain and the effects that neurological conditions can have on people’s learning and behavior.

What is the best thing about your job?
Making a difference in kid’s lives and helping families understand their children’s difficulties.

How do you go about calming a child’s fears? Aside from the wonderful work of the Child Life team?
Reassurance, humor, and parental involvement

How do you build trust with a parent?
Showing them that I care about their child and understanding the difficulties that they have faced as parents.

Spending time with my own children

I am married and have 3 children

Where are you originally from, and how did you get here?
I am originally from Utah. After completing my fellowship in Ohio, I moved to Phoenix to work at St. Joseph’s Hospital. I was hired by Phoenix Children's Hospital as part of the merger with the Barrow Neurological Institute in 2012.
