Christine Knoll, MD joined the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in August, 2007. Dr. Knoll’s special interest is hematology. Dr. Knoll received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA followed by her medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. Following her internship and residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center, Dr. Knoll completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC in June 2007. During Dr. Knoll’s fellowship training, she conducted extensive laboratory research investigating sickle cell anemia, particularly the role of platelets in sickle cell anemia. Dr. Knoll studied platelet function in sickle cell mice and the role of targeted anti-platelet therapy in this disease. Dr. Knoll is an active member of the American Society of Hematology, Children’s Oncology Group, and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. She is ABMS board certified in Pediatrics and ABMD board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Within the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Dr. Knoll is director of the Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC), which is the only federally-funded HTC in the Phoenix area. Dr. Knoll’s focus has been hemophilia and other bleeding disorders plus thrombosis and thrombophilia. Since her time here, she has started a thrombosis/hemostasis consult service, which is available hospital wide to all disciplines. Her clinical and research focus includes bleeding disorders, thrombosis, ITP, anemias, and hemoglobinopathies.
