The Pediatric Hospitalists at Phoenix Children’s provide the day-to-day acute care services for ill or injured children requiring hospitalization. Our hospitalists coordinate the patient’s care with a team of people including physician specialists, pediatric nurses, case management, social work, nutritionists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and Child Life specialists.
Every day, a hospitalist visits each patient in the morning and families are encouraged to ask them questions and discuss the care plan for their child. These morning rounds are the best place to hear the latest information regarding the patient’s plan for the day and overall hospital goals.
What is a Pediatric Hospitalist?
A pediatric hospitalist is a doctor who specializes in the care of hospitalized children. They work in many areas of the hospital and care for a variety of illnesses that require hospitalization. Hospitalists also communicate with the patient's pediatrician or family doctor upon discharge from the hospital to ensure continuity of care from the hospital to the pediatric clinic.
