After Your Stay

A member of your child's health care team will notify you when your child is to be discharged from the hospital. Our discharge usually happens within 90-minutes after your doctor has written the order. Before you leave, your nurse will give you instructions for your child's care at home.

If you would like written information about how to care for your child, ask your nurse. If your child has healthcare equipment or supplies at home, ask your nurse if you need to bring them to the hospital before transporting your child home.  For more suggestions on what questions to ask before you leave the Hospital, and what information you will need to care for your child at home, please click here.

Make sure you have a car seat if your child requires one, and clothing for your child. If you do not have transportation, you will want to make arrangements for a ride home before your child is discharged. Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) can provide transportation for families under that program. If you need assistance arranging transportation, please contact our Social Work Department at (602) 933-0750.
