Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship
Phoenix Children's Hospital's Radiology Department offers a one-year fellowship dedicated to pediatric neuroradiology. The fellow is exposed to a broad spectrum of neuropathology, encompassing all aspects of pediatric neuroimaging including:
- MRI (standard and advanced imaging techniques),
- CT (including neuro PET-CT),
- and ultrasound (cranial, spine, and carotid Doppler).
The Pediatric Neuroradiology fellows are also exposed to neuroangiography and interventional neuroangiography.
The curriculum is designed to provide a balance between clinical exposure, teaching interaction and research interest. In addition to one-on-one exposure with the neuro faculty, there is a wide range of departmental conferences including didactic lectures, an interesting case conference, case review conference, journal club, epilepsy/neurosurgery/brain tumor/neuroscience conferences and a brain cutting conference.
The fellow is given protected time for research each week. On-call assignments are shared and rotated with faculty.
St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Phoenix Children’s Hospital combined their pediatric neuroscience programs in June 2011, and formed the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children's Hospital, further enhancing the exposure of the fellow to a wide variety of pediatric pathology.

The department is a luminary site for Philips with state-of-the-art equipment. This includes recently installed digital broad band, multi-transmit 3T MRI, 256 volume slice CT, and PET-CT technology.
The neuroradiology team currently consists of 4 full-time pediatric neuroradiologists. The faculty have a wide range of clinical and research interests to offer each fellow a well-rounded and balanced educational experience.
A prior year of training in pediatric radiology or adult neuroradiology is strongly encouraged.
