Pediatric Hospice & Palliative Care Medicine Fellowship Program

The Inpatient Palliative Medicine consult service completed over 500 consults in 2017, representing a wide range of ages and diagnoses. The service receives consults from all areas of the Hospital and multiple subspecialties. The Palliative Medicine team includes four HPM board certified/board eligible physicians, a nurse coordinator, two social workers, a bereavement counselor and administrative support.

The Hospital received ACGME accreditation for a Hospice Palliative Medicine Fellowship in January 2018. The fellow is primarily based at Phoenix Children's with rotations in adult palliative medicine at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Phoenix and hospice with Hospice of the Valley and the Ryan House.

Electives will be available in all the different subspecialties. Curriculum includes didactic lectures, journal club, a quality improvement project and/or research and case reviews.
