Transition Training: Adult to Pediatric Medicine

Phoenix Children's Hospital offers a variety of programs that help nurses with different backgrounds train to work in Pediatrics or Pediatric specialties. The Hospital's Center for Nursing Excellence uses blended learning techniques that incorporate online programs, didactic instruction and clinical precepted time.

Programs are individualized and can accommodate a variety of nursing backgrounds and interests, such as adult ICU, emergency medicine, adult medical, OB/Gyn, adult surgical, and general pediatrics. Each year we see nurses that transition from adult-focused nursing to general pediatrics or to a critical care environment (Emergency Department/NICU/PICU).

If you already work in a pediatric environment, we can help transition you to a specialty area in pediatrics such as hematology/oncology, endocrinology, neurology/neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, or one of the critical care areas.

If you are interested in transitioning to a pediatric specialty at Phoenix Children's Hospital, please visit our employment section or contact human resources for more information regarding opportunities. Even if you would just like to talk to someone regarding the various programs and possibilities, please contact Human Resources to facilitate a meeting with the Manager in the area that you have an interest in.
