Pediatric Infectious Disease Laboratory

Research Institute

Our Phoenix Children's Pediatric Infectious Disease Research Laboratory is committed to developing enhanced diagnostic, treatment and preventative options for children suffering from common infections impacting patients, their families and public health.

One focal area for the Phoenix Children's Pediatric Infectious Disease Laboratory is ear infections. Specifically, Haemophilus influenzae is a common cause of ear infections in children and lung infections in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The Phoenix Children's Pediatric Infectious Disease Laboratory uses the tools of reverse vaccinology, protein structure and immunoprotection to identify the protective proteins of Haemophilus influenzae with the long term goal of vaccine protection.
