Volunteering at Phoenix Children's Hospital

2017 Summer Intensive Volunteer Program

You must be 18 by June 1, 2017 to participate.

Students age 18 (by June 1, 2017) through College Senior wanting to learn more about the hospital environment can participate in this Summer only volunteer opportunity.

The program includes:

  • Participation in our in-hospital Volunteer Programs
  • "A Look Inside" Education Sessions
  • Compressed schedule for training and participation
  • Enrollment is limited

The first step for new candidates age 18 (by June 1, 2017) through College Senior is to attend a Summer Intensive Program Info Session. The application deadline for the program is early March, but you will learn more about all that at the Info Session. Candidates complete similar orientation, health screening and training steps as our in-hospital volunteers.

Note: Returning Summer Intensive Program volunteers – You will receive an email invitation for an Information Session for ‘returners’ only. You will need to attend the ‘returners’ online info session on Feb 21st or March 1st and you will receive the link for those sessions in the email. You do not need to attend one of the sessions listed above.

PROJECT DAYS for Teens 13-17:

The Volunteer Services Department offers a Project Day for students ages 13-17. The Project Day includes a community service project that benefits services to our patients and families. There is also a hospital tour, education and team building content.

As part of this day of service students are encouraged to donate one Bulk Size "salty snack" (fish crackers, pretzels, etc.) and snack size Ziploc baggies. These items will be bagged as individual portions and given out on our Coffee Cart to patients and families.

Teens ages 13-17 are eligible to participate in one of two sessions: Tuesday, June 27 or Monday, July 17. Check back in May for the links to register for one of these sessions.
