Volunteer Team Assignments

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS: Volunteers are cross trained in a variety of roles, participate as a team and float through identified areas providing support as needs require.

Avondale OR East Valley Urgent Care Center (Mcdowell/Avondale Rd. & Higley and Southern Rds)  Acts as a liaison between staff and families.  Interacts with doctors, nurses and staff to coordinate family convenience. Specific duties vary by department

Bio-behavioral: Assists classroom teachers with material preparation of instructional activities and classroom supervision. Must have background or education in Psychology, Special Education or related field.  *Must be 21 or older and have current fingerprint clearance to be eligible.

Care Area Team:  Assist nurses with courier services, comfort and companionship to their patients. Includes bedside play/activities as directed by Nursing and Child Life staff. Assists with games, arts and crafts in a supervised playroom for infants through school-aged children. CPR Certification preferred.

Outpatient Team:  Entertains children who are waiting to see the doctor by playing games, coloring and sharing activities to help provide the patient a more comfortable visit. Clerical support in clinics.

Pre-Op/Surgery Waiting Team:  Acts as a liaison between staff and families.  Interacts with doctors, nurses and staff to coordinate family convenience and comfort while children wait to be taken for a procedure, while in surgery or recovery. Assists staff with multiple tasks which includes supervising the play area, greeting children and families, provides play activities and escorts families as needed.

Rehabilitation:  Assists in Rehab Gym with setting up, tearing down equipment used during therapy.
