Inpatient Rehabilitation Program

Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Program provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach provided by a team of experienced pediatric professionals. A child with a chronic condition, temporary impairment or an injury gets physical rehabilitation to relieve pain, improve strength, reduce the effects of impairments, and improve overall function and participation in everyday activities.  We work with children affected by these and many other conditions or procedures:

  • Blood diseases and disorders
  • Brain disorders – Traumatic injuries, nontraumatic/post-infection conditions and tumors  
  • Burns - Healed or nearly healed
  • Cancer
  • Critical care neuropathy (nerve disease)
  • Debilitation or weakness after severe illness   
  • Guillain-Barre syndrome
  • Heart disease
  • Intrathecal baclofen (ITB) pump implantation – Muscle-relaxant medicine delivery system to manage spasticity (tight muscles)
  • Movement disorders
  • Multiple trauma and fractures
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Orthopedic (bone, muscle and joint) conditions – Including rehabilitation after elective procedures such as lower-extremity surgery   
  • Respiratory/Cardiac conditions
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) – Lower spinal cord surgery
  • Spinal cord disorders – Such as transverse myelitis, traumatic injury, infection and tumors 
  • Stroke
