Lowering Stress, Lifting Spirits

Caring for a hospitalized loved one is challenging when you’re pulled in so many directions. It’s important to tend to your own needs, too, so you can be there for those you love.

At Phoenix Children’s, you’ll find people, places and even a few furry friends who are good for the heart and soul. Peace, quiet, laughter and smiles play a vital role in everyone’s overall health and wellness.

When a child is hospitalized or being treated for an illness, it is important for the entire family to find balance through trying times. We’re here for you whenever you need a hand or a moment alone. Please let us know how we can help you to find the support you need.

Animal-Assisted Therapy

Studies show animal therapy can help kids of all ages. Our highly trained intuitive furry visitors help lower stress, lift spirits and give children and families a little relief from their troubles. Our Animal-Assisted Therapy program brings certified therapy animals around for positive physical and psychological benefits.

Kids can exercise mind, body and spirit simply by walking a dog, getting outside or playing fetch. Children and families are able to take a moment and lean into the positive distraction of physical and emotional pain. Contact your treatment team or a Child Life specialist.

Wellness Resources

Phoenix Children’s offers health and wellness resources including “Mindful Minutes” – a list of simple ways to make even the smallest windows of time count.
