Benjamin Pate, MD, is a Pediatric Anesthesiologist specializing in Pain Management.

As a native of Arizona's Southwest Valley, Dr. Pate appreciates the opportunity to return home as part of the Phoenix Children's team and is proud to be affiliated with the renowned pediatric hospital.

Dr. Pate earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency. He served his internship in Arizona as well at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. Finally, Dr. Pate completed a Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship at Children's Hospital of Colorado in Aurora, Colorado.

He is certified in Pediatric Anesthesia through the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Pate has several professional affiliations, including Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, American Society of Anesthesiology and Arizona Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. Pate believes treating pain requires an individualized approach. Therefore, he takes time to understand each child, evaluating their symptoms along with their emotional and developmental needs.

A life-long love of science and taking care of people made a career in medicine a natural choice. He was drawn to pain medicine because he wants to make a difference for his young patients dealing with pain. As a parent himself, Dr. Pate can empathize with what patients and their parents are going through. Nothing makes him happier than helping to alleviate pain and bring smiles to his patients' faces.

When he's not working, Dr. Pate enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors hiking, biking and skiing. He also enjoys traveling and photography.
