Pediatric urologist Carlos A. Villanueva Del Rio, MD, enjoys the challenge of finding the most effective solution to his patients' medical problems.

When a child is experiencing a transient or minor problem, he finds it rewarding to "reassure worried parents about something that their child will outgrow or will have little effect on their lives."

Drawn to the field because of the transformational nature of the procedures he performs, Dr. Villanueva Del Rio enjoys being able to reconstruct congenital malformations and change a child's life for the better. He is grateful to be part of the team at Phoenix Children's.

"I love the people I work with," says Dr. Villanueva Del Rio. "I would 100 percent trust all of my partners to take care of my own children."

Outside of work, Dr. Villanueva Del Rio enjoys playing with his three daughters and rock climbing.
