Phoenix Children’s Opens Arizona’s First-Ever Sports Physical Therapy Clinics Specifically for Kids, Teens and Young Adults

Phoenix Children’s Sports Medicine program is opening sports physical therapy facilities specifically aimed at patients’ ages four to 30. The program will open two clinics in the Valley this fall, in Gilbert and North Phoenix, which will be the first Arizona sports physical therapy clinics designed for pediatric and young adult populations. The facilities will offer everything from return-to-sports readiness care, to cupping and dry needling.

“Young athletes are still growing and need clinical-professional expertise from physical therapists who understand how injuries differ in children and teens from similar conditions in adults,” said Kristina Wilson, MD, Medical Director of Sports Medicine at Phoenix Children’s. “Our team is trained to care for this population. We work with kids, teens and young adults to heal, get back to the game, and mitigate any risk for re-injury.”

The first Phoenix Children's Sports Medicine Physical Therapy (PT) clinic opens in Gilbert on September 17. The second clinic will open in North Phoenix on October 31 (full clinic addresses listed below). Nationally recognized sports medicine physicians from Phoenix Children’s Center for Pediatric Orthopedics will provide clinical overcite, and Phoenix Children’s physical therapists will manage care at these clinics following a model that gives patients comprehensive assessment, treatment and follow-up care.

Orthopedic clinicians from Phoenix Children’s have worked for years with Valley high school athletic teams to provide professional medical support on and off the field. Teams at the sports physical therapy clinics will take this a step further, collaborating with high school and collegiate athletic trainers, youth and club coaches, and parents and families to provide patients with a continuum of care.

Apart from top-quality, community-oriented care, the PT clinics will give patients access to professional-grade equipment and services only previously available to professional athletes including anti-gravity treadmills, tool augmented soft tissue, motion analysis and more.
