*According to the program requirements, each fellow is required to have 12 months in an ED caring for patients 21 years old and younger for full spectrum pathologies. 

  • PEM = Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • ED = Emergency Department
  • PICU = Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
  • EMS = Emergency Medical Services
  • A = Administrative (may include duties such as performing a quality review project with the associate ED director, presenting at and attending a hospital peer review committee, specific meetings to attend with the ED director, conference attendance, and others).
  • All PEM months include research. All fellows are expected to work on their research throughout the year
  • 4 weeks of Vacation is built into the PEM months
  • Fellows only have in house calls on PICU and Trauma. All other months either represent shift work only, or are call-free, unless the fellow chooses to spend extra time on call during elective or orthopedic months.
