Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship

Fellowship Programs

In this Section

The department at Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH) offers a one year Pediatric Radiology Fellowship. There are positions for two fellows each academic year. We accept applications from J-1 visa holders.

Our fellows receive multimodality, subspecialty training in pediatric neuroradiology with rotations in CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, plain film, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, and neuroradiology. There will be a broad spectrum of exposure to several conventional and advanced imaging techniques to include, but not limited to:

  • Conventional MRI techniques: Brain, spine, head, and neck
  • Conventional CT techniques: Brain, spine, head, and neck
  • Fetal imaging
  • Functional MRI: Task-based and resting state.
  • Diffusion tensor imaging
  • CSF flow studies
  • Arterial Spin Labeling
  • Dynamic Perfusion techniques
  • MRI Spectroscopy
  • PET brain imaging
  • 3D reconstruction processes
  • Neuroangiography
  • Ultrasound: cranial, spinal, and vascular
  • Plain film radiography

Given the vast reach of our catchment zone including Arizona and many areas of the neighboring southwest states, our fellows receive unparalleled exposure to the breadth and depth of neuroradiology-specific pediatric disease processes. We are recognized by the U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Children’s Hospitals. PCH is a Level 1 pediatric trauma center and home to many excellent clinical services.

PCH is the primary site of pediatric training for medical schools and radiology residencies in the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area. We feel that giving the fellows the opportunity to teach the various other rotating trainees is just as important as the opportunity to learn from the experienced staff. Our fellows have ample opportunities to teach and lead conferences during their years of training.

If you show, a proclivity toward research there will be copious opportunities provided to our fellows. Our fellows and faculty present their research at local, national, and international meetings. We have a staff of physicists and research personnel that assist the academic work in our department. We are proud to have a strategic relationship with Philips Healthcare, which provides the hospital with cutting-edge imaging technology and a powerful research partner. Faculty hold appointments at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, Creighton University, Arizona State University, and Barrow Neurological Institute.
