Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO, is a specialty within our Critical Care department. The ECMO team caring for your child is made up of a neonatologist or an intensivist, surgeon, ECMO primer, ECMO specialist, ICU nurses and respiratory therapists. This program was the first pediatric and neonatal ECMO program in Arizona, and involves recognized ECMO experts from across the state.
Excellence in care
We are one of the largest ECMO Centers in the state, and proud to have treated more than 650 patients since opening in 1987. Designated four times as a Gold “Center of Excellence” by the international Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), our team has excellent reputation in the medical community serving as area experts in Pediatric ECMO.
