What led you to your career as a neurology doctor/surgeon?
My interest in neurology developed during my daughter's extended hospitalization at Boston Children's Hospital because of status epilepticus and hemiparesis secondary to encephalitis.

Yes, multiple pictures that children color in the office setting.

How do you go about calming a child's fears? Aside from the wonderful work of the Child Life team?
I mimic bird and other animal sounds, which the children typically respond positively to.

Can you tell us about your family?
I am married and have 3 adult children (2 boys and a girl). My youngest son, age 20 years, is a Junior at Arizona State University majoring in Chemical Engineering. My oldest son, age 23 years, recently graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Business Communications. My daughter, age 28 years, graduated from Arizona State University with an under graduate degree in Biomedical Engineering and from the University of Vermont with a Doctor of Medicine degree. She recently completed her intern year. My husband is a Chemical Engineer and has a job that has allowed him to travel extensively across the continent.
Where are you originally from, and how did you get here?
I was reared in South Carolina, moved to Derry, New Hampshire upon graduation from college, and moved to Arizona because of a job transition for my husband.
