Erin Garvey, MD, is a pediatric surgeon at Phoenix Children's Hospital. After completing her general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, she was the first pediatric surgery fellow trained here at Phoenix Children's Hospital and joined the Phoenix Children's staff after completing her fellowship.

Dr. Garvey is board certified in general and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She is both a Fellow and an active member of the American College of Surgeons and serves on committees for the American Pediatric Surgical Association and the Association of Women Surgeons. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, a Clinical Scholar Assistant Professor in the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Creighton University.

Dr. Garvey specializes in minimally invasive surgery for infants and children. She has an interest in the multidisciplinary care of colorectal patients and patients with spina bifida; however, she loves taking care of all pediatric surgery conditions. She enjoys pursuing clinical pediatric surgical research projects that will have a meaningful impact for patients. Dr. Garvey is participating in prospective randomized controlled trials at Phoenix Children's and is also involved with multicenter prospective trauma studies. She is one of the PCH research representatives for the international Pediatric Colorectal and Pelvic Learning Consortium (PCPLC).

Dr. Garvey welcomes patients and families from all backgrounds. She has a family-centered approach to surgical care and values making sure her patients and their siblings, parents and extended family are all comfortable with and understand the care plan.

Born and raised in Colorado, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Denver where she was a collegiate spring board diver. Dr. Garvey received her doctorate of medicine from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. She currently lives in Scottsdale with her husband and daughter. They enjoy spending time outside, traveling and surfing.
