Dr. Luis Goncalves is a Pediatric Radiologist with 26 years of experience in fetal imaging. He has a unique blend of clinical training in both obstetrics and pediatric radiology, as well as expertise with advanced imaging techniques such as three-dimensional ultrasound and fetal MRI. He has dedicated a substantial portion of his career to the prenatal diagnosis of congenital malformations.
Dr. Goncalves comes from Beaumont Hospital, in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he led the fetal MRI program and served as co-director of fetal imaging. Prior to working at Beaumont, Dr. Goncalves directed the Fetal Imaging Division of the Perinatology Research Branch of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, in Detroit, Michigan. His research interests include congenital anomalies, fetal inflammatory response, preterm birth, growth restriction and placental imaging. Dr. Goncalves is the author of over 100 per reviewed journal articles, several book chapters, and is the co-editor of the latest edition of Fleischer's Sonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology, one of the leading textbooks in the field.
Dr. Goncalves` expertise will support the mission of Phoenix Children's Hospital's to diagnose and treat conditions that begin during fetal life for the growing population of maternal-fetal patients seen through the Arizona Fetal Care Network and Arizona Mother-Baby Care.
