John Boden, MD, is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Boden has specialized training in the treatment of a wide range of eye conditions affecting children, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, crossed eyes (strabismus) and double vision.

After serving in the United States Army for 24 years, Dr. Boden decided to hang up his military uniform and join the Phoenix Children's team. He enjoys collaborating with his Phoenix Children's colleagues, caring for his patients and serving the local community.

Dr. Boden graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, before earning his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Boden is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He was drawn to a career in medicine because of his desire to help and serve others. Dr. Boden strives to treat every patient as if they were a member of his own family.

When not treating patients, Dr. Boden enjoys spending time with his family, running and hiking.
