Gastroenterology and GI Surgery

Gastrointestinal (GI) problems can happen to anyone. But GI conditions, and their associated symptoms, can be especially challenging for children and teens. At Phoenix Children’s Hospital, our gastroenterologists are experts at treating simple and complex gastrointestinal (GI) conditions.

At Phoenix Children’s Hospital, we want to help your child or teen live life to the fullest. Our board-certified gastroenterology physicians (gastroenterologists) and nurse practitioners are experts at caring for patients with simple and complex GI conditions.

A Dedicated Team of Experts

Phoenix Children’s is home to the largest pediatric gastroenterology group in Arizona. Here, your child has access to 14 gastroenterologists and four nurse practitioners. All are specially trained to care for children with GI conditions.

Our team also includes three physicians and two nurse practitioners with expertise in hepatology and liver transplantation. They collaborate with our Liver Transplant Program — the only pediatric program of its kind in Arizona.

The gastroenterology team at Phoenix Children’s is associated with the University of Arizona as well as the American Liver Foundation and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.

Nationally Recognized Care

Phoenix Children’s is consistently recognized as a “Best Children’s Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report. We are one of only 24 hospitals nationwide to receive top rankings in every surveyed pediatric specialty area, including gastroenterology.

Phoenix Children’s is also the only hospital in Arizona considered a Care Center by ImproveCareNow, a nonprofit collaboration working toward improved health for children with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
