Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize the developing field of interventional psychiatry, its indication, and its safe practice in psychiatry.
  2. Describe the benefits, risks, side effects, and contraindications of Electroconvulsive therapy.
  3. Describe the evidence-based practices for Electroconvulsive therapy and other novel interventional psychiatry modalities, including Ketamine, Vagus Nerve Stimulation, Deep Brain Stimulation, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

Narmada Neerja Bhimanadham, MD completed their medical education at Pondicherry University (AVMC), India, and later pursued a master's in public administration from Drake University. After their completion of residency training at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, where they gained valuable clinical experience. Driven by the passion to advance in the field, Dr. Bhimanadham is pursuing further specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Phoenix Children’s and has completed an ECT mini-fellowship program at Emory University.
