Sickle Cell Program

The Sickle Cell Program at Phoenix Children’s is part of the largest pediatric hematology program in the state. This program is unrivaled, offering our patients access to top hematology specialists. Here, every patient with sickle cell disease has a team dedicated just to their needs, so families always know where to go with questions. Each patient’s team includes a:

Anesthesiology

Our anesthesiologists are involved in the entire surgery or procedure process. From assessing the patient’s medical history and unique needs, to planning and administering anesthetic through staying with the patient until they have safely recovered from the effects of anesthesia, we provide expertise, supervision and critical care. Sometimes, we care for the patient for several days after surgery, to ensure optimal recovery and pain control.

Cochlear Implant Program

At Phoenix Children’s, the cochlear implant team will help your family decide if this treatment option is a good fit for your child. The team will work with your family as you navigate the journey with hearing loss and the cochlear implant process. All of our services are designed around children and their families and provide the support needed for success with a cochlear implant.

The Cochlear Implant Program is part of the Ear, Nose and Throat Department at Phoenix Children’s. Our team includes:

Breathmobile

When a child with asthma is exposed to triggers (things that irritate the lungs, such as smoke, dust, cats or exercise) their breathing tubes become inflamed or swollen. Their lungs then produce extra mucus, and the muscles around the breathing tubes tighten, which causes coughing, wheezing, difficulty breathing and can sometimes be fatal.
